RACE 1
Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) pulled a controlled win out of the bag at Miller in race one, eventually heading home Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) by 2.313 seconds. Third was Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) who had to work hard in the final laps to hold off Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team).

Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) finished fifth; with pole man Jakub Smrz (Liberty Racing Team Effenbert Ducati) sixth. Slowing front row starter Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) was finally caught by Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Aprilia) with Davies seventh and Sykes eighth.

RACE 2
Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) and Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) went 1-2 in the second race at Miller, which was halted, shortened to 18 laps, and then re-started almost an hour-and-a-half late. The wait was worth it for the spectators as the last lap fight was tense and exciting right up until Melandri won by only 0.195 seconds.

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was third and Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Aprilia) fourth, easily the SBK rookie's best result of the year. Early leader Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) was unlucky to fall and no score. The big winner today was Biaggi, who took an 18-point lead away with him, with Melandri and fifth place finisher Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) in joint second place.

Malware W32.Flamer

Symantec’s Security Response team is analysing a new highly sophisticated and discreet threat: W32.Flamer, which it says is on par with the other cyberspace threats like Stuxnet and Duqu.
In a statement, Symantec said the analysis so far revealed that the malware has been built with the ability to obtain information from infected systems primarily located in the Middle East.
As with the previous two threats, this code was not written by a single individual but by an organised well funded group of personnel with directives, it said.
The code includes multiple references to the string ‘FLAME’ which may be indicative of either instances of attacks by various parts of the code, or the malware’s development project name, it said.
The threat has operated discreetly for at least two years with the ability to steal documents, take screenshots of users’ desktops, spread via Universal Serial Bus (USB) drives, disable security vendor products, and under certain conditions spread to other systems, it added.
The threat may also have the ability to leverage multiple known and patched vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, in order to spread across a network.
Initial telemetry indicates that the targets of this threat are located primarily in Palestinian West Bank, Hungary, Iran, and Lebanon while other targets include Russia, Austria, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates. The industry sectors or affiliations of individuals targeted are currently unclear, said Symantec.
However, initial evidence shows the victims may not all be targeted for the same reason, it added. Many appear targeted for individual personal activities, rather than their company of employment, it said.
Interestingly, in addition to particular organisations being targeted, many of the attacked systems appear to be personal computers being used from home Internet connections, it said.
The recent Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report 17 saw the number of targeted attacks increase dramatically during 2011 from an average of 77 per day in 2010 to 82 per day in 2011.--BERNAMA MSL SD

SEBUAH UNGKAPAN

Webber makes it six winners from six races

Red Bull’s Mark Webber held his nerve throughout a nail-biting denouement to the Monaco Grand Prix, forging another little bit of motor racing history as for the first time ever a sixth different driver won the sixth race of the season.

But Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel were all nose to tail in his wheeltracks, covered by a 1.3s blanket after a desperate chase in which none of them could ever relax.

Webber took the lead at the start and held it from Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, but the McLaren driver lost third to Alonso during their sole pit stops. Vettel, meanwhile, had started on soft tyres in contrast to the super-softs on which the rest of the top 10 were obliged to start, since he hadn’t set a time in Q3. Thus he ran a much longer first stint and was able to take the lead as Webber, Rosberg, Alonso and Hamilton made their stops.

17 hurt in Million Youths Rally drag race

Seventeen spectators at a drag race held in conjunction with the Million Youths Rally 2012 at midnight last night were injured when one of the competing cars skidded during a trial run.
In the incident at the Wadi Ehsan Highway at Precinct 19 here, the car struck the victims who were watching from outside the permitted perimeters.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said four of the victims who sustained serious injuries were being warded at Putrajaya Hospital, while the driver of the car escaped unhurt.
He said the race was discontinued and that he would request the organisers to conduct an investigation including lodging a police report.
"I don't want a repeat of the tragedy. We regret what happened. We will see what assistance we can provide to the victims and their families," he told reporters after visitng the scene of the incident.
Ahmad Shabery said the race was arranged by experienced organisers but he had been made to understand that there was no sanctioning body to monitor and supervise competitions of such nature.
When asked to comment on claims that the organisers had been negligent on the aspects of safety, he said it was premature to say this and that he was waiting for a full report on the case.
He said he had also been informed by the organisers that they had cautioned spectators not to go beyond the permitted area but when the session started, the warning went unheeded as the arena became crowded with about 10,000 spectators.
Meanwhile, Putrajaya police chief ACP Abdul Razak Abdul Majid when contacted, confirmed the incident and said an investigation was ongoing. – Bernama

MOTOR RACING: Accident ends Nabil-Afiq duel

Nabil Jan Al Jeffri v Afiq Ikhwan Yazid show came to a dramatic end when both drivers clashed at the very last turn as they duelled for victory in Race Two in the opening round of the JK Racing Asia Series at the Sepang Circuit yesterday.

Nabil of the Eurointernational team had earlier taken his first victory from pole in Race One and then saw Meritus GP's Afiq take a comfortable lead off the blocks from pole in Race Two, as youngster Akash Neil Nandy threatened to take second spot from Nabil early in the race.
It seemed settled midway through the 10-lap race when Afiq was leading with Nabil a good distance away and South African Eurointernational driver Aston Hare in third, battling with his teammate Irfan Ilyas and Meritus GP's Akash for the final spot on the podium.
But from the sixth lap onwards, Nabil began to post fastest lap times, while Afiq's lap times deteriorated. Though something seemed to be wrong with 21-year old Afiq's car, it seemed good enough for the Kajang-born to take it to the finish. That is until the unthinkable happened at the final turn with the chequered flag awaiting.
Nabil made a last ditch attempt to steal victory from Afiq and both cars clashed then stalled in the middle of the track, allowing rookie Hare to take his unexpected first victory and the championship lead, while 16-year-old Akash fended off a charging Irfan to take second spot.
It was Akash's fourth ever podium finish and his best ever result, as his previous three podiums last year were for third place finishes.

Burials for 66 Muslims killed during Bosnian war

The bodies of 66 Bosnian Muslims, murdered and dumped in the Drina river 20 years ago, have finally been buried in eastern Bosnia.
Several thousand people gathered to mourn the victims of a wave of ethnic cleansing by Bosnian Serb forces during the three year war in the early 1990s.
Their remains were recovered from a nearby lake two years ago.

RIVER OF BLOOD
It is being called the ‘River of Blood’. The 11,541 red chairs symbolise every person killed during the siege of Sarajevo 20 years ago.
The row of chairs stretches 800 metres through the centre of the city. Hundreds of the seats are small to signify the many children that also lost their lives – more than 600.
During a 43-month siege by Serbian forces which began on April 6 1992, innocent civilians were killed in random shelling and by snipers. It marked the start of a three and a half year war, during which 100,000 people died – many of them through ethnic cleansing carried out by the Serbs. More than two million people fled from their homes.
Years of bloodshed were finally ended when NATO bombed the Serbs and the United States brokered a peace deal that split the territory along ethnic lines.

Syria massacre: International condemnation

The United Nations has condemned the massacre of 92 civilians including 32 children in Syria.
While Syrian state TV blamed “armed terrorist gangs”, a spokesman for UN chief Ban Ki-moon and international envoy Kofi Annan accused the Syrian government of carrying out a “brutal” breach of international law.
UN observers have visited the town of Houla in Homs province to see for themselves the bodies of the dead from Friday’s violence.
Head of the UN monitoring mission to Syria Major General Robert Mood said: “The death of 32 innocent children, lots of women and men but in particular the children, is an unacceptable attack on the future and on the aspirations of the Syrian people. Whomever started, whomever responded, whomever contributed to it.”
The rebel Free Syrian Army has warned that the shaky ceasefire which began last month is as good as over, while the Syrian National Council has called for international air strikes on government forces.

British Superbike:Jon Kirkham set to comeback

Jon Kirkham is vowing to come back stronger at Snetterton next weekend (25/26/27 May) as he bids to make amends for missing out at the previous round at Oulton Park after suffering a huge 150mph crash in the opening race that left him sidelined for the remainder of the event.
Kirkham had been running fourth and challenging for a podium position when he crashed at Water Tower causing the race to be red flagged, but escaped with just concussion which meant he was unable to take any further part in the two remaining races of the weekend. However, having recovered in the break between rounds he is keen to reclaim a top six position in the standings at Snetterton after three non-point scores at Oulton Park.
Kirkham said: "It has been a good start to the season for us and at Oulton Park we were making good progress, well apart from lap nine of race one! We were pushing hard and to be honest we were not doing bad; it looked like it would be a good race for us. That came to an abrupt end and it was gutting for me to have missed the three races as that has dropped us down the order in the standings.
"The boys have been working flat out back at the team HQ in Louth ready for the Snetterton round and looking at what we can improve so we are all set for the weekend. I am on the road to recovery, it did take me a few days to feel like myself again but I was just lucky to get away with what I did and I am looking forward to getting back out and riding again.
"Snetterton should be good for us and I went well there last year; I qualified third and got a sixth place. This year with Samsung Honda hopefully we can get a good set up and claw some points back to get inside the top six in the standings."

The Hopper returns to action at Miller

FIXI Crescent Suzuki racer John Hopkins will return to the team for the next round at Miller Motorsports Park in America after being forced to miss last weekend's races through injury. Hopkins suffered a broken bone in his right foot and damage to his left hip following a high-side at Monza in Italy earlier this month. It was initially hoped that he would be fit for the Donington Park round last weekend, but the hip injury restricted his movement too much and tests proved inconclusive.

On his return to California, Hopkins visited specialists to have further scans and to diagnose the severity of the injury. After an entire day of tests it was revealed that no significant long term damage had occurred in the hip joint and he will be able to return to race action at Miller. Hopkins will still need to undergo a series of painkilling injections to combat the discomfort in both his hip and his foot, but he is fully committed to racing and determined to get back on the FIXI Crescent Suzuki GSX-R and do everything in his power to get a good result on home-soil.

John Hopkins: "I was so disappointed to miss Donington Park, where I'm sure I could have been in that crazy fight for the win! It's been a really rough ride physically over recent times, and there were some real worries over the hip condition, but I know I have a lot more to give and that my luck has to change for the better. The team, my family and close friends have been really supportive and I just want to get back into what I know I can do best.

"I am fully committed to racing at Miller and I will be doing everything possible from now and up to the race weekend, to ensure that I do whatever I can to get the best result possible for FIXI Crescent Suzuki, me and everyone involved. It won't be easy, so I plan to take it step-by-step, enjoy the riding and build back into it."

Chelsea-Juara Eropah, Kelantan-Juara Piala FA 2012

Bersambung chapter ketiga pertarungan-Penalti Shoot Out!.

English FA CUP 2012: Chelsea juarai kali ke-7

http://www.epltalk.com/media/2012/05/chelsea-fa-cup-winners.jpg
Sangat kontroversi.

Black hole caught

This computer-simulated image shows gas from a tidally-shredded star falling into a black hole. Some of the gas also is being ejected at high speeds into space.Astronomers have caught a black hole in the midst of a violent act, watching in real time as it tore a sun-like star apart with gravitational forces so strong that helium gas was flowing in a stream moving at 32 million kilometers an hour.
"We saw the messy carnage involved in this stellar homicide," said Dr. Suvi Gezari, associate research scientist with Johns Hopkins University's department of physics and astronomy. Gezari spoke to CBC Radio host Bob McDonald in an interview that airs on Quirks and Quarks on Saturday, May 5, at noon.
The destruction of the star — which was likely in the later parts of its life before the black hole cut it even shorter — was seen in June 2010 as a luminous flare of radiation by two telescopes watching at two different wavelengths: an ultraviolet NASA satellite and a ground-based optical telescope in Hawaii.
The event, similar in scope to a supernova but taking much longer, reached peak brightness a month later and slowly faded over the course of a year.
It was the most direct evidence ever gathered of a black hole destroying a star. Black holes, regions of space weighing millions of times more than the sun, are extremely difficult to find because they're only detectable if there is gas spiralling into them — something that might happen once every 100,000 years in any given galaxy.
The star's destruction was so bright it outshone the other stars in that galaxy, which is about 2.7 billion light years away.
“We were watching in real-time, but we still actually didn’t figure out what this event was until almost a year later,” Gazari said.
The information the astronomers gathered allowed them to calculate that the black hole had the mass of about three million sun-like stars. By comparison, the black hole in the middle of the Milky Way is about 4 million times the mass of the sun.
The astronomers also believe the star had likely already lost its outer layers during a previous pass near the black hole.
"When the star is ripped apart by the gravitational forces of the black hole, some part of the star's remains falls into the black hole while the rest is ejected at high speeds," Gezari told NASA in a separate interview. "We are seeing the glow from the stellar gas falling into the black hole over time. We're also witnessing the spectral signature of the ejected gas, which we find to be mostly helium. It is like we are gathering evidence from a crime scene. Because there is very little hydrogen and mostly helium in the gas, we detect from the carnage that the slaughtered star had to have been the helium-rich core of a stripped star."Gezari said the discovery should help scientists discover other, similar events more easily — perhaps by the thousands.

Soccer Team Quits Portugal’s Top League

Soccer club Uniao de Leiria said it will have to quit Portugal’s top division after 13 players submitted resignation letters over late salary payments.
The resignations will force last-place Leiria to withdraw from the 16-team championship, the club said on its Facebook page. A club official confirmed the comments.
Uniao de Leiria would face automatic relegation and a fine if it doesn’t take the field for a game at Benfica scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow.
Only eight Leiria players showed up for its last game on April 29, a 4-0 loss against Feirense.
Leiria may sue some players for “very grave sports and financial damages,” according to its Facebook page.

Ex-Geylang United players jailed for match-fixing attempt

SINGAPORE - Two former Geylang United players were jailed on Friday for trying to fix the football club's game against Harimau Muda on Thursday, reported The Straits Times.
South Koreans Jeon Byungeuk, 24 and Kim Jae Hong, 27, had tried to bribe Geylang United mid-fielder and fellow South Korean Mun Seung Man, to not score against the Malaysian team.
Jeon had told Mun that someone would give him $3,000 for not scoring in the match.
Both pleaded guilty to charges of match-fixing, with Kim admitting to another charge of giving a $4,000 bribe to Geylang United's goalkeeper Yazid Yasin on April 10 to lose the game.
The court heard that Yazid, 32, was promised $4,000 upfront and an additional $2,000 if the match-fixing was successful, by a South-Korean-sounding man named Andrew.
Kim was instructed by an unknown party to prepare to fly from South Korea to Singapore to hand the money over.
Kim and Jeon were arrested soon after giving Yazid the $4,000 on Wednesday.
Both Yazid and Mun were fielded in the match, which Harimau Muda won 2-0.
Jeon was sentenced to five months in prison, while Kim was jailed 10 months.

Super moon to rise this weekend

The biggest full moon of the year should be visible in New Zealand skies this weekend. The "super moon" could be up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than other full moons seen throughout the year.
The phenomenon is caused by the moon's elliptical orbit. This weekend it will be 50,000km closer to Earth than at the furthest reach of its orbit. US space agency Nasa says the Perigee Moon, as it is also known, has been linked in folklore to a rise in hospital admissions and an increase in crime, but modern studies do not back this up. However, higher tides than normal are expected. The super moon is set to rise on Sunday evening at 5.23pm.

Real Madrid: 32nd league crown

Real's 3-0 away win over Athletic Bilbao sealed the league, putting them seven points clear of last year's winners and arch rivals Barcelona with just two games to go and delivering the team's 32nd league crown.

About 2,000 fans poured into central Madrid to party around the stone fountain of Cibeles, the goddess of nature depicted on a chariot pulled by a pair of lions. Fans danced in drunken revelry, waving Real Madrid scarves and flags and chanting. Others drove to the city centre beeping their horns and waving flags out of car windows.

Galaxy S III: Samsung unveils latest rival to iPhone

London: Samsung Electronics unveiled a new top-of-the-range Galaxy smartphone in London on Thursday, updating the most direct rival to Apple's iPhone with a larger touch screen and more powerful processor.
The South Korean technology group, which overtook Finnish company Nokia as the world's biggest cellphone maker earlier this year, said the new Galaxy SIII model would go on sale in some markets in late May and around the world from June.
Last week, Samsung reported a record $5.2 billion quarterly profit, boosted by Galaxy smartphone range whose sales outstripped the iPhone.
Galaxy S III: Samsung unveils latest rival to iPhone
Samsung sold around 45 million smartphones in the first quarter and contributed most of its operating profit.
The new Galaxy S III model will have a 4.8 inch touch screen, 8 megapixel camera and will use the latest version of Google's Android software.
Analysts said the expected massive marketing campaign and features of the handset - billed as the official smartphone of the London 2012 Olympics - were likely enough to generate strong sales, but the launch left many of them unexcited.
"It is not an eye-catching device that will overwhelm consumers," said IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo.
The blue lights in the launch venue downtown London, echoing the cold rainy day outside, and the background sounds of nature, which Samsung said inspired the design, resulted in a fairly muted atmosphere in the room.

Estoril target for Stoner and Pedrosa

Stoner, who took his first ever GP victory at Jerez last week, will try to do the same now in Estoril, the only track on the calendar where victory eludes him in the premier class. He won in 250cc (2005) and has 3 podium finishes in MotoGP.
Casey Stoner
"A flying visit back home to Switzerland and now we have the Grand Prix of Portugal this weekend. After our win in Jerez, I'm looking forward to going to Estoril and hopefully we can maintain the form we've had in the past two races as we've shown good pace. However, we do need to fix the arm pump issue as it's held us back a little and it's disappointing we weren't able to fix it before Jerez."

Dani Pedrosa
"I'm happy with our performance in the first two races, the results were good, but still not perfect. So, I will try to do the extra push in Estoril, where we achieved the first victory of the season last year after a very good weekend. It will be important to set up the bike well in a tricky circuit like this, with long corners and hard braking. It is the first time we go there with the 1000cc RC213V and a good position on the grid is always crucial in Estoril."

The healing mind - the mind body connection

The mind has to establish an intent (thought-command) that initiates an electrical activity in the appropriate part of the brain (the motor area controlling that finger in this case), which is then transmitted by electrical nerve impulses through the neurons. These impulses are transmitted from one neuron to another along the appropriate chain through synapses (specialised junctions, or contact points between neurons or nerve cells). At the synapses, the signal transmission can be via direct electrical impulse or chemical neurotransmitters.
Finally, the signals reach the neuro-muscular junction where a whole series of chemical-electrical actions occur, which then causes the muscle to contract. This sequence occurs whenever we move any voluntary muscle.
A simple mental command (often done “without thinking”, when actually, it is a conscious, voluntary command) is all that is necessary to initiate the cascade of chemical-electrical actions that allow us to walk, run, speak, laugh, and do many things to enjoy this experience called Life.
Involuntary muscles move because of similar chemical-electrical actions, except that the process is initiated without conscious command. Various receptors, feed-back mechanisms, emotions, hormones and chemicals influence the workings of involuntary muscles and other automatic systems.
While synaptic signal transmission/communication between neurons has been well understood for a long time, what is poorly understood is ephaptic coupling – the indirect communication within the nervous system through extracellular electric fields, which is known to occur in both the nerve fibres, as well as in the neurons of the brain.
Of course, there are many actions that are automatic, which do not depend on conscious command, otherwise we will all die when we sleep, because we cannot continue to send commands for breathing and for the heart to continue beating in that state.
There are also automatic responses (eg reflex actions) that are meant to be protective, which circumvent conscious decisions and commands. In fact, there are thousands of activities going on inside our body that are not directly under our conscious control.
However, all these autonomous activities are still connected and directed by the (subconscious) mind in some way. The autonomic nervous system, while not always subject to conscious control, is still part of, and dependent on, the commands from the brain. Many yogis and qigong masters have trained their mind to be able to take charge of certain autonomic functions (eg regulation of body temperature). The mind is often on automatic mode. How often have your thoughts wandered when you were supposed to be concentrating on something else? How creative (and often outrageous) are our minds to have scripted and directed the sometimes believable, and sometimes ludicrous, dreams that we all have experienced.

Spain: Must beat team!

MADRID,  (Reuters):  Spain shook off the tag of inveterate also-rans to triumph at Euro 2008 and winning a first World Cup two years later secured them undisputed status as the team to beat in international soccer.
However they will have to re-write soccer’s record books if they are to keep their European title in Poland and Ukraine this summer. No country has ever retained the Henri Delauney trophy and no country, on any continent, has won three major tournaments in a row.
The Iberian nation used to be haunted by the “curse of the quarters” – at the European Championships of 1996 and 2000 and at the World Cups of 1994 and 2002 the last eight had proved a bitter stumbling block.
Fans feared the worst at Euro 2008 when then-world champions Italy battled to a 0-0 draw to force a quarter-final penalty shootout but that was when Spain’s luck changed and Iker Casillas’s saves sent them through.
Released from their jinx and flush with self-belief they swept on to the title and followed up their success in Austria and Switzerland with a less spectacular, but equally efficient, performance to win the World Cup in South Africa.
Under coach Vicente del Bosque, they continue to win plaudits for their slick possession play, attacking flair and solid defence and are firm favourites to become the first nation to win back-to-back continental titles with a World Cup in between.
“Of course we are favourites due to the fact that we are the reigning European and world champions and it seems that is something we can’t shake off,” a smiling Del Bosque said in an interview with Reuters in March.
“But Netherlands and Germany, who were second and third in the World Cup, are also clear favourites, all the more so because of their impeccable Euro 2012 qualifying runs,” the former Real Madrid coach and player added.
“Then you have England, Italy, France, Portugal, they all have excellent players.
“And in these relatively short championships it can happen that any country comes into form and wins it, as happened with Greece in Portugal in 2004.”

Casey Stoner strike back!
