PEPSI APOLOGISE OVER CR7

Pepsi has been forced to apologise for a Swedish viral campaign involving a voodoo doll of Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo.

The company ran a number of adverts ahead of the second leg of the World Cup qualification play-off bewteen the nations on Tuesday, with the Real Madrid star depicted as a small doll lying on train tracks with the caption 'We're going to pass over Portugal'.

Another image shows the model of the 28-year-old with dozens of pins stuck in.

The advert led to uproar among Portuguese nationals, with a Facebook group set up urging those angered to boycott the brand, prompting Pepsi to offer their apologies for the campaign.

"We would never want to put the sport or the spirit of competition in a negative light," an official Pepsi statement reads.

Bas pasukan Argentina dilontar dengan batu-batu di Peru

Sebuah bas yang membawa pasukan bola sepak kebangsaan Argentina dilontar dengan batu di Lima pada hari Isnin pada malam Dunia 2014 mereka kelayakan Piala Dunia menentang Peru, menurut laporan media.Cermin tingkap bas telah dipecahkan tetapi tiada pemain atau kakitangan kejurulatihan cedera dalam kejadian di luar Estadio Nacional mana kumpulan Amerika Selatan pemimpin Argentina akan bertemu Peru. Ketegangan antara pasukan telah meningkat di tengah-tengah laporan pelan Peru menggunakan ketat manusia menandakan sistem untuk menyekat kapten Argentina Lionel Messi. Argentina menewaskan Paraguay 3-1 di Cordoba pada hari Jumaat manakala Peru memanjat dari bawah kedudukan dengan kemenangan 2-1 ke atas Venezuela.

Sokongan ejekan penyokong Brazil

Neymar menjaringkan hatrik Brazil menghancurkan China 8-0 dalam satu perlawanan persahabatan di Recife pada hari Isnin, memujuk penyokong tuan rumah yang telah mengejek persembahan  mereka terhadap Afrika Selatan minggu lepas.

Timur laut Brazil, dan Recife khususnya, secara tradisinya diberikan kepada pasukan sokongan yang begitu kuat dalam masa keras supaya tidak ada tempat yang lebih baik untuk sampingan beleaguered Mano Menezes datang daripada stadium Arruda.

Selepas kehilangan Sukan Olimpik London akhir ke Mexico bulan lalu, penyokong Brazil telah mengejek semasa kemenangan meyakinkan pasukan mereka 1-0 ke atas Afrika Selatan di Sao Paulo pada hari Jumaat.

EURO 2012: Ronaldo dismisses Spanish fatigue claims

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed talk that their Spanish rivals have reason to complain because they have two days less to recover before their Euro 2012 semi-final clash today. "Three days rest is more than sufficient. The Spanish have commented that  having two fewer days rest is a disadvantage, but as a professional I don't  think it's important," the Real Madrid striker was quoted as saying on UEFA's  website.    Portugal advanced to the semi-finals last Thursday by beating the Czech  Republic 1-0, while defending champions' Spain beat France 2-0 on Saturday.    "You have to prepare for the match in the same way that we prepared for the others. We don't have to do anything different. It will be a hard clash in which Portugal has to do very well to beat Spain.    "We are ready and we will do our best," said Ronaldo, who has scored three goals so far in the tournament.

Euro2012:Ramalan SemiFinal

Salam Sejahtera.Selepas ramalan untuk suku akhir saya ramalkan tepat walaupun catatan jaringan gol ada yang tidak betul(heee....). Kali ini saya akan membuat ramalan untuk semifinal plak. Semifinal 1 mempertemukan Portugal menentang Sepanyol. Walaupun kelebihan lebih memihak kepada juara 2008 dan juara dunia 2010 ini, namun dari segi prestasi kedua-dua pasukan dilihat memiliki peluang sama rata. Ini kerana kedua-dua pasukan memiliki ramai pemain berbakat terutamanya Sepanyol yang boleh dikatakan separuh daripadanya adalah pemain-pemain Barcelona. Namun, bola itu bulat. Ronaldo pula telah berjaya membuang badi menjaringkan gol buat Portugal dalam kejohanan besar. Sekiranya Ronaldo dapat meloloskan diri daripada rantaian pertahanan Sepanyol, maka dia pasti akan menjaringkan gol dengan aksi yang menarik. Ball Possesion Portugal 35% Sepanyol 65%.Ramalan saya: Portugal [1] - [0] Sepanyol. 

Semifinal 2 pula menemukan Germany melawan Itali. Kedua-dua pasukan seimbang dari aspek agresif dan pertahanan yang mantap. Germany tanpa kelibat Mario Gomez, Mueller dan Podolski mampu untuk menewaskan Greece yang bermain corak bertahan inikan pula Itali yang mesti mencari taktikal yang sesuai untuk menghadapi serangan bertali arus dari Germany. Mario Balotelli pula mesti mengawal amarahnya sekiranya mahu Itali menewaskan Germany. Germany memiliki pemain-pemian muda yang mampu memberi tekanan kepada Itali. Ball Possesion Germany 60% Itali 40%. ramalan saya Germany[3] - [1] Itali.

Sheva the Ukraine Captain Marvel

Andriy Shevchenko is determined to turn the European Championship into a farewell performance to remember, and so far he's putting on quite a show.

Shevchenko one-upped Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Monday in a battle of past and present star strikers, scoring two great headers to give co-host Ukraine a 2-1 win over Sweden in their opening match at Euro 2012.

"I feel that I am 10 years younger today," the 35-year-old Shevchenko said.

Ukraine entered the tournament as massive underdogs to make it to the second round but look to have a real chance of extending their stay past the group stage as France and England drew 1-1 in their game earlier on Monday.

The party in Kiev, at least, is likely to go on for at least another week.

The Olympic Stadium rang out with chants of "Sheva, Sheva" for the last part of the game, and those shouts are likely to reverberate throughout the country for a long time.

After Ibrahimovic had given Sweden the lead in the 52nd minute, Shevchenko responded by heading in the equaliser just three minutes later and then added the winner in the 62nd.

Spain eye unique treble at Euro 2012

Spain will try to become the first team to win three successive major international titles while Germany will hope to lift their first trophy since 1996 when Euro 2012 kicks off on Friday.

The backdrop of the three-week tournament being staged by Poland and Ukraine across a vast stretch of eastern Europe has already been partly defined by off-field events.

It will be the last Euros with 16 countries, often regarded as the "perfect" formula for a knockout event, because UEFA has agreed to expand the finals to 24 teams in France in 2016, an awkward number that blighted World Cups between 1982 and 1994.

Also no other European Championship is likely to face the infrastructure problems that have dogged this tournament since it was awarded to the co-hosts in April 2007.

Ukraine has continually risked losing its right to stage its half of the event and their hoteliers have been described by the UEFA president Michel Platini as "bandits and crooks".

Lastly, the social and political issues surrounding the first major sporting event to be staged in former communist countries since the 1980 Moscow Olympics, could still endanger the tournament's overall success.

There have already been diplomatic ructions between Ukraine and some western European nations threatening to boycott the event at government level over the jailing of former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

On Tuesday, three days before the tournament starts, a crowd of Ukrainians, angry over a parliamentary vote that would increase the role of the Russian language in the country, clashed with police at a fan zone set up in the capital Kiev.

Soccer Team Quits Portugal’s Top League

Soccer club Uniao de Leiria said it will have to quit Portugal’s top division after 13 players submitted resignation letters over late salary payments.

The resignations will force last-place Leiria to withdraw from the 16-team championship, the club said on its Facebook page. A club official confirmed the comments.

Uniao de Leiria would face automatic relegation and a fine if it doesn’t take the field for a game at Benfica scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Only eight Leiria players showed up for its last game on April 29, a 4-0 loss against Feirense.

Leiria may sue some players for “very grave sports and financial damages,” according to its Facebook page.

Spain: Must beat team!

MADRID,  (Reuters):  Spain shook off the tag of inveterate also-rans to triumph at Euro 2008 and winning a first World Cup two years later secured them undisputed status as the team to beat in international soccer.
However they will have to re-write soccer’s record books if they are to keep their European title in Poland and Ukraine this summer. No country has ever retained the Henri Delauney trophy and no country, on any continent, has won three major tournaments in a row.
The Iberian nation used to be haunted by the “curse of the quarters” – at the European Championships of 1996 and 2000 and at the World Cups of 1994 and 2002 the last eight had proved a bitter stumbling block.
Fans feared the worst at Euro 2008 when then-world champions Italy battled to a 0-0 draw to force a quarter-final penalty shootout but that was when Spain’s luck changed and Iker Casillas’s saves sent them through.
Released from their jinx and flush with self-belief they swept on to the title and followed up their success in Austria and Switzerland with a less spectacular, but equally efficient, performance to win the World Cup in South Africa.
Under coach Vicente del Bosque, they continue to win plaudits for their slick possession play, attacking flair and solid defence and are firm favourites to become the first nation to win back-to-back continental titles with a World Cup in between.
“Of course we are favourites due to the fact that we are the reigning European and world champions and it seems that is something we can’t shake off,” a smiling Del Bosque said in an interview with Reuters in March.
“But Netherlands and Germany, who were second and third in the World Cup, are also clear favourites, all the more so because of their impeccable Euro 2012 qualifying runs,” the former Real Madrid coach and player added.
“Then you have England, Italy, France, Portugal, they all have excellent players.
“And in these relatively short championships it can happen that any country comes into form and wins it, as happened with Greece in Portugal in 2004.”
