Harald Irmscher - Singapore national teams' trainer

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced on Wednesday that they have appointed former East German international Harald Irmscher as a trainer for the national teams.

The 67-year-old has penned a one-year deal with the option to extend for a further year and will be tasked immediately to work with the head coaches of all Singapore teams to implement a standard post-match evaluation template.

Irmscher will also oversee compilation of statistics like fitness tests, fat and weight control in addition to tailoring individual training programmes for players, including for those in National Service, while also helping Lions boss Bernd Stange to scout and select players.

Stange is no stranger to Irmscher as he had the latter as assistant during his spells in charge of Belarus and East Germany, as well as at Cypriot side Apollon Limasol. Irmscher will assist Stange in conducting analytical and tactical training sessions for local coaches, which will include monthly meetings, to help enhance their skills. He will also oversee AFC coaching certificate courses from 'C' to 'A' levels.
